The Cheyenne VA Medical Center is honoring all Veterans and their families Dec. 3 with a holiday party from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The celebration will include music, food, horse drawn hay-rides, hot chocolate and a special appearance from Santa and Ms. Claus.

We know that going to the doctor can be stressful on Veterans,” said Cynthia McCormack, medical center director, “so this is a fun opportunity for all Veterans to come to their VA to celebrate with their families and enjoy some food and holiday cheer, while getting to know their medical providers outside of the doctor’s office.

The event will also officially welcome home and honor veterans from Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn by providing information about their benefits as new Veterans.

Many new Veterans do not want to enroll in the VA for one reason or another, McCormack said. “For some, it might be the stigma, while for others it could be that the new Veteran is afraid they will take medical care away from someone who needs it more. Whatever the reason, we want to welcome these Veterans home, and let them know that we are here when they need us.

The event will be held in the ambulatory care wing of the facility located at 2360 E. Pershing Blvd, in Cheyenne.
