A Cheyenne teen is facing a felony assault charge after allegedly threatening his stepmother with a knife.

Eighteen-year-old Jared Barnes made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court this (Wednesday) morning.

According to court documents, the Laramie County Sheriff's Department was called to Barnes' house on Monday night after he reportedly pulled a pocket knife on his stepmother.

The documents say Barnes had been arguing with his parents throughout the day and was angry because they'd taken away his action figures as punishment for a prior incident.

The stepmother reportedly told a deputy that she was sick of Barnes disrespecting his father, so she reached around her husband for him. That's when Barnes allegedly pulled out the knife and told her "come at me bitch."

Barnes reportedly told the deputy that his stepmother looked like she was "going to rip his throat out" and that he was scared for his safety.

Barnes is being held in the Laramie County Jail on $3,000 cash bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 26.
