The Cheyenne Police Department continues to investigate a report of gun shots being fired in the area of the 600 block of Oakhurst in the early hours of March 31st.Spokesman Officer Dan Long says at approximately 3:30 a.m. officers arrived on scene and began to search the area for a white pickup truck that was seen in the area at the time the gun shots were heard. Officers located and stopped the vehicle, which was traveling at speeds exceeding 60 mph, in the area of Central Ave and 24th Street. Officers contacted the driver of the vehicle, Joshua Romero, 22, of Cheyenne.

During the stop officers found a black pistol on the floorboard of Romero’s vehicle. While on scene Romero refused to obey the commands given by officers. Romero was arrested and booked into the Laramie County Detention Facility on reckless endangerment and interference with a peace officer charges. Officers found shell casings in the area of the 600 block of Oakhurst but were unable to determine which direction the bullets were fired.

The case remains under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department.
