The Cheyenne City Council passed a resolution Monday night to name the Board of Public Utilities (BOPU) building on Snyder Avenue after longtime Director Tim Wilson.

"It's quite an honor," said Wilson. "I'm very humbled by it."

Wilson, who has been BOPU Director for the last 19 years, announced in May that he'd be retiring on January 31, 2017, after 38 years of service.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity I've had to work for the City of Cheyenne and the Board of Public Utilities," said Wilson.

"I've had the opportunity to work with mayors, members of City Council and Board members who have had vision, commitment and support for the projects that have helped to ensure a good, safe drinking water supply and clean, reclaimed water for the City of Cheyenne," Wilson added.

"I had the great fortune and opportunity of working with him when I was still at the local electric and natural gas utility and working in joint projects with the Board," said Mayor Rick Kaysen. "It's always been a pleasure to work with Tim and I'm very proud that he is a co-worker of mine."
