Cavalryman Steakhouse Announces Re-Opening

Cavalryman Steakhouse, located on the ground of historic Fort Sanders, announced Thursday that it will be re-opening this weekend with a renewed focus on its legacy as an historic Wyoming steakhouse.

Cavalryman Steakhouse is celebrating the event with a ribbon cutting, unveiling of a permanent wall display on Laramie history, talks by experts on the history of the fort and early Laramie live, displays of historic artifacts, live music by three bands, a family day including face painting and a kid’s program, and a fundraiser for Cathedral Home for Children. The restaurant has been closed recently as part of an ongoing revitalization process undertaken by its new local owners. Revitalization completed to date includes a new kitchen, extensive remodeling of the interior, and implementation of a full set of professional business processes in order to insure consistent quality and value in food and service.

Cavalryman Steakhouse’s property includes artifacts of historic Fort Sanders, which was constructed in July of 1866 to protect the Overland and Lodgepole Creek emigrant routes, the Denver-Salt Lake City stage route, and the construction crews for the Union Pacific Railroad. The property includes the remnants of a 9-hole golf course, pro shop and other buildings from the original Laramie Country Club. The Cavalryman is housed in the historic clubhouse, which was built in 1925.
