Former Cowboys Step Up to Help Renovations to UW’s AA

The renovation of the University of Wyoming’s Arena-Auditorium has received a great deal of support from a special group of individuals over the past several weeks. That special group is made up of former Cowboy basketball players who have offered their financial support through generous donations.

Wyoming Cowgirl Chaundra Sewell Earns Rare Distinction

For the first time in her career, senior Chaundra Sewell has been selected to the 2013 WBCA Division I Coaches’ Honorable Mention All-America Team. She is one of four Cowgirls in school history to earn the honor and the first since 2008.

Gorrell and Boehme Leave Wyoming Cowgirl Basketball Program

In a bit of a surprising move, the Wyoming Cowgirls are losing two more players than was originally expected after the 2012-13 season wrapped up on March 21st. University of Wyoming head women’s basketball coach Joe Legerski announced Tuesday that forward Aubry Boehme and guard Alison Gorrell have decided not to return to the Wyoming basketball program next season to pursue other opportunities.

Bears Bounce Cowgirls From WNIT

Behind three players in double figures, the Northern Colorado Bears stunned the Wyoming Cowgirls 71-63 Thursday night in the first round of the WNIT at the Arena-Auditorium. Northern Colorado knocked down 12-of-15 free throws in the final 4:25 to hold on for the victory. The Bears tied a school record with their 21st win of the season.

Wyoming Cowgirl Chaundra Sewell Earns Big Distinction

For the first time in her career, senior Chaundra Sewell was among four individuals selected to the WBCA All-Region VII Team announced Tuesday by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. This is the first time a Cowgirl has garnered this honor since Hanna Zavecz in 2008.

Wyoming Cowgirls Host WNIT First Round Game Thursday

The Wyoming Cowgirls are back in the post-season in 2013. For the seventh time in school history, UW received an invitation to the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) on Monday evening. Wyoming will host the Northern Colorado Bears, on Thursday, March 21, in a WNIT First Round Game at 7 p.m. This is the fifth time in the last eight years Wyoming has made an appearance in the WNIT.

Bulldogs Nip Cowgirls 63-62 in MW Tournament Semis

Ki-Ki Moore hit the game-winning jumper with 2.5 seconds left to lift the Fresno State Bulldogs past the Wyoming Cowgirls 63-62 in the semifinals of the 2013 Reese's Mountain West Basketball Championships in Las Vegas Friday afternoon. Chelan Landry's desperation heave from three-quarter court just missed off to the right. The heart-breaking loss means UW has to wait to find out its' post-season fate on Monday night.

Cowgirls Rally for Dramatic 60-58 Win Over CSU

Junior Chelan Landry hit the game-winning shot on a drive to the basket with 19 seconds left, and the Wyoming Cowgirls survived and advanced with a 60-58 victory over Colorado State in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Reese's Mountain West Women's Basketball Championships in Las Vegas Thursday night. The Cowgirls rallied from a 14-point deficit in the second half with a 20-3 run and made the critical plays in the final minute to move on to the semifinals against Fresno State Friday afternoon.
