Behind 29 points from senior guard Cody Kelley, the top-ranked Gillette Camels ran away from the Laramie Plainsmen Friday night at the LHS gym. The final was 82-56.

Gillette (16-3, 6-0) shot 65 percent (30-46) from the field, as they easily earned a regular season sweep of in 4A East Conference action against the Plainsmen.

Laramie (3-16, 0-6) hung around for a quarter, thanks to 11 points in the first period from sophomore guard Jake Aadland. Two late 3-pointers by Aadland gave LHS a 22-21 lead at the end of the first.

After a three quick lead changes early in the second quarter, Gillette seized control. They out-scored Laramie 21-9 in the period and steadily pulled away for a 42-31 halftime lead.

The Camels opened the second half on an 11-3 run and built a 53-34 advantage. The Plainsmen never recovered, and Gillette cruised to the 26-point victory.

Laramie shot just 41 percent from the field. They were led by Aadland, who established a new career-high with 21 points in the game. No other Plainsmen scored in double figures.

The Plainsmen return to action on Saturday, February 15, at 1:30 p.m., when they host the 4th-ranked Sheridan Broncs at the LHS gym. The Broncs won the first meeting three weeks ago in Sheridan, 73-53.
