25 year old Marlin R. Miller of Burns, Wyoming was killed in a crash involving three vehicles on Friday afternoon. The crash happened at 5:42 p.m. one mile east of Cheyenne on US 30.

An SUV had run out of gas and was pulled off the highway onto the grassy shoulder of US 30. Mr. Miller stopped in a pickup to provide assistance for 28 year old Peter J. Bolejack, also of Burns, and his passengers. The pickup was parked behind the sport ute while Miller and Bolejack were outside in the ditch putting fuel into the SUV.

An eastbound SUV on US 30 crossed over the center divider line and entered the westbound travel lane. That truck then struck Mr. Miller and Mr. Bolejack before hitting the pickup in a near head on collision. Mr. Miller sustained fatal injuries from the crash and Mr. Bolejack was taken by ambulance to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.

The teenage driver of the SUV that hit the two, and his front seat passenger were both taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. As charges are pending, the identity of the teenage driver will not be released.

Distracted driving and improper lane use are being investigated as contributing factors in this crash marking the 126th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2014.
