Bulldogs Hot Shooting Topples the Cowboys [VIDEO]

Fresno State made a school record 15 three-pointers and out-lasted the Wyoming Cowboys, 79-75, Wednesday night in Laramie.

The Bulldogs knocked down 15-of-22, 68 percent of their shots from beyond the arc. Marvelle Harris made seven. Jahmel Taylor went 4-4 from deep, while Cezar Guerrero hit a pair and Cullen Russo and Julien Lewis each made one. Fresno State shot 55 percent for the game.

Wyoming lost despite a career-high 28 points from Jason McManamen. He made a career-best eight 3-pointers, which is the second-most in school history.

The Cowboys fell down by 18 points with 12 minutes left. The Bulldogs had an 8-0 spurt at the end of the first half for a 39-33 lead at the break. A 15-1 run early in the second half led to Fresno’s big lead. UW fought back and pulled within one point, at 68-67, with just under two minutes remaining on a Josh Adams steal and dunk. The Pokes made six triples in their comeback.

Fresno State (17-9, 8-5) responded with eight straight points. That pushed the Bulldogs lead to 76-67 with 29 seconds left, and they held on for the win.

Harris led the way with 25 points and seven assists. Russo added 17 points and ten rebounds, while Taylor chipped in 14 points.

Wyoming (12-15, 5-9) dropped their second straight. Josh Adams added 16 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. The Pokes shot 47 percent from the field and went 14-37, 38 percent, from deep.

The Cowboys return to action Saturday with part two of the ‘Border War’ at Colorado State. Game time from Fort Collins is at 2 p.m.
