The search for the new Laramie Plainsmen boys' basketball coach is over. Ryan Puckett will take over the program.

Puckett has spent the past four years as an assistant coach in various capacities with the Plainsmen. The last two were as the JV coach.

His hiring is subject to approval by the Albany County School Board at their next meeting in June.

Puckett takes over for Chuck Kern, who resigned in March after three seasons at the helm.

In a released statement from Laramie High School Athletics Director Bruce Schmidt, he said,

"Ryan will bring passion and enthusiasm to the basketball program. His knowledge of the program and players will keep continuity in the basketball program."

No other comments can be made by school district personnel until the hiring is approved.

KOWB will have more on Ryan Puckett's hiring after visiting with the coach later today.
