Laramie Plainsmen

After tough defeat in the semifinals, the Laramie Plainsmen bounced back and took third place at regionals.

The Plainsmen were beat by the host Sheridan Broncs, 4-3, last Friday. Cameron Campbell had two goals, and Lucas Thorsness added one.

Head coach Dan Benford said, “We battled and fought hard, but too many defensive miscues created a hole, and we just ran out of time to climb out of it.”

Laramie (12-4) bounced back nicely and blew out Cheyenne Central, 5-0, in the third place match.

Thorsness scored twice, while Blake Moore, Brett Jaeger and Cadel Rosales scored one apiece.

Benford was pleased with the victory over the Indians.

“Defensively we rebounded from an uncharacteristic game against Sheridan and locked down the shut out.”

Tanner Riedel made three big saves to seal the deal according to Benford.

Both Laramie teams will face Kelly Walsh in the first round at the 2016 State Tournament Thursday at the Big Horn Equestrian Center’s Polo Grounds.
