It was a successful start to the new high school soccer season for both Laramie High School teams Tuesday night.

The third-ranked Laramie Lady Plainsmen blew out Scottsbluff, NE 10-0. Junior’s Lexi Pulley and Courtney Hamilton scored 4 goals each, while senior Madison Barrick and sophomore Kelcey Anderson also scored.

Head coach Kim Whisenant said her goal was to get everyone some playing time, and it was accomplished.

“I love this team and the atmosphere to it; and the comradery; and just the fight that we have together. It just makes me so proud to be the coach.”

The Laramie Plainsmen were also victorious in their season opener in Nebraska. They defeated the Bearcats 1-0 in overtime.

The lone goal of the match came from senior Blake Moore. He was assisted by Alexis Eleuterio.

According to head coach Dan Benford, Laramie dominated play, but struggled to finish. Benford stated LHS had 22 overall shots and six on goal.

Both teams return to the pitch against Riverton Saturday. The Lady Plainsmen are at home with a noon match time, while the Plainsmen are back on the road with a 2 p.m. start.
