Wyoming junior QB Josh Allen has a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder. Head coach Craig Bohl confirmed the news at his weekly press conference Monday.

Allen was injured late in the first half of last Saturday night’s game at Air Force. He started the second half, but left after an attempted pass on the fourth play of the third quarter.

Bohl said they are expecting Allen to be cleared, but if he plays depends on how Josh feels.

The news of Josh’s injury became public after his mother, Lavonne Allen, posted the information to her Facebook page Sunday night.

Josh Allen is from Firebaugh, CA, which is 45 miles away from Fresno, CA. It just so happens the Cowboys host the Fresno State Bulldogs in their home finale Saturday in Laramie at noon. Allen grew up a Bulldogs fan, and this will be his first opportunity to play against them. These two teams have identical records of 7-3 overall and 5-1 in the Mountain West.

Allen has thrown for 1,658 yards this season with 13 touchdowns and six interceptions. He has added 207 yards and five TD’s on the ground.

Coach Bohl did mention he’ll provide updates on Allen’s status for Saturday during this week.
