Avalanche Kills Snowboarder Near Jackson Resort
JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — An avalanche has killed a snowboarder just outside the boundary of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
Resort officials say the avalanche happened around 12:50 p.m. Thursday. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at about 1:30 p.m.
The Associated Press reports the Teton County Sheriff's Office identified the man as 29-year-old Michael Kazanjy of Jackson.
The slide happened at about 10,300 feet on an east-facing slope called the Pucker Face.
Others who were with Kazanjy saw the slide happen and dug him out of the snow. Attempts to revive Kazanjy were unsuccessful.
