David Settle

A native of Fort Collins, Colorado, David Settle earned a degree in Broadcasting from the University of Wyoming in 1998.  He originally joined KOWB/KCGY in June of 1998 as a board operator.  He was named the full-time Sports Director in July of 1999.  In July of 2009, he added the title of Operations Manager to his responsibilities.  He has also worked as an intern for Wyoming Public Radio and KIIX radio in Fort Collins.  As the Sports Director, he is in charge of covering all aspects of the local sports scene.  He broadcasts five sportscasts every weekday, coordinates all sports programming for KOWB/KCGY, is a co-host of Sportsline Live three days a week, the primary host of Cowboy Talk and the “Voice of” the Laramie Plainsmen and Lady Plainsmen, as well as the Laramie Rangers.  In 2007, 2008 and 2010, he won the award for “Best Play-by-Play” from the Wyoming Association of Broadcasters.  As Operations Manager, he oversees the day-to-day functions of both KOWB and KCGY.  David is happily married.  He and his wife Sara, have two daughters, Mikaela and Paige.

Cowboys Fall Short Against New Mexico 59-46 in MW Tournament

A lack of offensive firepower hampered the Wyoming Cowboys, as they lost to the #14 New Mexico Lobos 59-46 in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Basketball Championships in Las Vegas Wednesday night. UW shot only 32 percent from the field and could never mount a serious challenge to the Lobos, who ended the game on a 12-4 run to advance to the MW tournament semifinals Friday night.

Big Second Half Propels Cowboys Past Nevada in MW Tournament, 85-81

Larry Nance, Jr. scored 19 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to lead the Wyoming Cowboys to a 85-81 victory over the Nevada Wolfpack in the opening game of the 2013 Reese's Mountain West Basketball Championships in Las Vegas Tuesday night. Nance was one of four UW players in double figures, as the Pokes survived a late push by Nevada and advance to face top seed New Mexico in quarterfinals Wednesday night.

Five Wyoming Basketball Players Earn All-Mountain West Accolades

Four Wyoming Cowgirls and one Wyoming Cowboy received the distinction of being named to the 2013 Mountain West All-Conference teams that were released by the league office Monday evening. Senior Chaundra Sewell leads the honor parade, as she earned All-Mountain West First Team honors for the 2012-13 season.

Sewell Earns Another MW Weekly Award

For the third time this season, senior forward Chaundra Sewell has been named Mountain West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played from March 5-10, 2013. It is the third MW weekly accolade Sewell has earned this season and of her career. She shares the honor with UNLV forward Rejane Verin.

Heartbreak City for Laramie Lady Plainsmen at State Tournament

It was a game plan that was executed perfectly for 35 minutes and 47 seconds. It was the last 13 seconds that went awry, as the Laramie Lady Plainsmen nearly pulled off a David versus Goliath upset in the first round of the 4A State Tournament in Casper Thursday night. They lost in overtime to the Natrona County Fillies, 39-36.

Laramie Plainsmen Championship Dreams Dashed in Overtime Loss

The thought of possibly winning the school's first ever boys basketball title in 28 years was crushed Thursday afternoon in Casper. The Laramie Plainsmen lost their first round 4A State Tournament game to Evanston 64-54 in overtime. The Red Devils closed out the game on a 20-2 run, which included a 10-0 scoring edge during the extra period.

Cowboys Crumble in Border War Loss to Rams, 78-56

Colton Iverson scored 29 points to lead three Colorado State players in double figures, as the Rams completed a regular season sweep of the Wyoming Cowboys with a 78-56 win Wednesday night in Laramie. CSU utilized a 15-3 run in the first half to take control of the game and rolled to their 23rd win of the season.

Loose Carries Plainsmen Past Central, While LHS Girls Fall

Behind a career-high 31 points from Tyler Loose, the Laramie Plainsmen battled back and topped Cheyenne Central for a third time this season with a 63-58 victory Friday night in the semifinals of the 4A East Regional Tournament in Gillette. LHS ended the game with a 10-0 run to complete their comeback. They will play for the regional title against the home-standing Camels Saturday afternoon.
