Question:

Why is the city, school district, university, and county not held to the same snow clearing rules we are? It often takes them several days, if at all, to clear their sidewalks, whereas we are expected to clear them immediately or face penalty.

Answer:

After a snowfall, the City of Laramie Code Enforcement Inspector generally checks areas adjacent to schools and then areas with a lot of pedestrian traffic first.  Generally, the University of Wyoming, the local school district, the City of Laramie, and Albany County have people clearing sidewalks within hours after a snowfall.  No property owner or occupant in the City, public or private, is held to any different standard than others.
