A new exhibition of artwork selected by University of Wyoming Art Museum staff members will open Saturday, June 14.

“Staff Selects II” features a variety of work from the Art Museum’s permanent collection of more than 8,000 objects. Museum staff members examined works in the collection's storage areas to select their favorite pieces.

“This is an opportunity to see a unique range of works from the collection and learn about them from the perspective of those who work in the building every day,” says Susan Moldenhauer, Art Museum director. “Many of the works have not been exhibited before, and many of the staff members do not work with the art on a daily basis.”

The exhibition includes a contemporary mixed media work by artist Brian Burkhardt; more traditional landscape paintings such as “Indian Country” by Frank H. Myers; and photography by artists Binh Danh and Martin Stupich. The last “Staff Selects” exhibition took place in 2006.

“With an ever-increasing number of works in the collection, and new staff members, this exhibition gathers works of art together in a never-before-seen way,” Moldenhauer says.

Through its Museum as Classroom approach, the UW Art Museum places art at the center of learning for all ages. Located in the Centennial Complex at 2111 Willett Drive in Laramie, the museum is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Admission is free.
