The first of two committees involved in the University of Wyoming’s search for a new president began reviewing applicants on Friday, Oct. 16.  Another meeting to continue the reviews is scheduled for Nov. 6.

The first committee met for nearly five hours on Friday to begin work on a list of 10-15 semifinalists.  The committee’s next meeting in the Old Main board room at 9 a.m. on Nov. 6 will continue that work and decide whether it is ready to pass the list along to the second committee.

In keeping with the UW Board of Trustees’ plan to maintain candidate confidentiality, the meeting is closed to the public.

The second committee will interview the semifinalist candidates and narrow the list down to 3-5 candidates.  They will hold a closed organizational meeting on Thursday, Oct. 29, to prepare for the task.

Upon their confirmation as finalists, these candidates’ names will be revealed.  They will visit campus for public forums as part of the final selection process.  As part of that process, stakeholders will have a chance to meet with the finalists and give input to the Board of Trustees, which will interview each candidate individually.

The Board of Trustees will consider the feedback and opinions of constituents in choosing the next president, which could happen by late December.

Anyone interested can still provide email feedback at UW.Presidential.Search@uwyo.edu.
