The 2012 Martin Luther King Jr./Days of Dialogue at the University of Wyoming are lining up to be a star-studded affair as UW announced on Tuesday that actor Hill Harper will be the keynote speaker. Best known for his current role as Dr. Sheldon Hawkes in “CSI: NY“, Hill will speak at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, in the Arts and Sciences auditorium.

Harper’s presentation will be free and open to the public as part of the 11th MLK/DOD from Jan. 16-20, which bears the theme, “Building Unity Through Community: Local to Global.”

The week is meant to renew UW’s commitment to making the campus and Wyoming a more welcoming and empowering place for people from different backgrounds, heritages, orientations or abilities according to co-chairs Kate Steiner, UW interim assistant dean of students, and Aimee Glocke, African-American Diaspora Studies visiting assistant professor. UW community members honor the continuing impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his life and ideals.

Lupe Fiasco will close the event with a concert on Jan. 20 in the Arts and Sciences auditorium. Tickets can be purchased at the Wyoming Union information desk, the Fine Arts box office and online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.
