Albany County School District #1 will be hosting a town hall meeting to address potential changes to the district's Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program. The meeting wil take place on Thursday, February 21 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Indian Paintbrush Elementary school, located at 1653 N 28th Street.

There won't be any significant changes to the program, but the school district is looking to expand the program. The DLI program currently runs at Spring Creek and Indian Paintbrush for grades K-3. The program is a dual track program, meaning that Class A is taught by a teacher in Spanish in the morning, and in English in the afternoon, whereas Class B is taught by a teacher in English in the morning, and switches to Spanish in the afternoon.

Both schools are running out of space in their programs, and are looking for options for expansions.

Proposals include moving the program into a single track, to open a third site, and eventually, a fourth site.

"It's been really successful and we do plan on keeping it, we just need to figure out how" said Assistant Superintendent Debbie Fisher. Fisher also mentioned that the district wants inputs from parents, and that all ideas are welcome.

The district wants to have a plan set before their next presentation to the board, which will take place on Wednesday, March 13.
