UNDATED (AP) — Masahiro Tanaka has pitched the New York Yankees to their first victory over the Mets since Jun. 24, 2012.

The Yankees had lost six straight to the Mets until Tanaka tossed his first major league shutout and complete game, allowing four hits in a 4-0 win at Citi Field. Tanaka outpitched Rafael Montero, who allowed three runs in six innings of his major league debut.

Brian Roberts put the Yankees ahead with an RBI triple that scored Yangervis Solarte (yahn-JUR'-vihs soh-LAHR'-tay), who added a solo homer to make it 2-0. Mark Teixeira (teh-SHEHR'-uh) also hit a solo shot to help Tanaka improve to 6-0 since joining the Yanks from Japan.

In other major league play:

- Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run single while the Tigers were building a 6-0 lead in a 7-5 win at Baltimore. Rajai (RAH'-zhay) Davis added a homer and two RBIs in the Tigers' 12th victory in 15 games.

- Jose Abreu's (ah-BRAY'-ooz) major league-leading 15th homer of the season was a three-run blast in the eighth inning of the Chicago White Sox's 4-2 triumph at Oakland, ending the Athletics' six-game winning streak. Abreu is the fourth player in major league history to hit 15 homers in his first 42 games, joining Wally Berger, Kevin Maas (mahs) and Wally Joyner.

- Jake Odorizzi allowed one hit while striking out seven in six innings of Tampa Bay's 2-0 shutout of the Mariners in Seattle. Grant Balfour got the last three outs in the combined two-hitter for his seventh save.

- Hunter Pence and Brandon Crawford hit two-run homers and Michael Morse added a solo shot as San Francisco clobbered Atlanta 10-4. Pence had four hits and three RBIs, and Crawford was 3-for-5 with three ribbies to help a shaky Madison Bumgarner pick up his fifth win.

- Ian Desmond and Tyler Moore each lined two-run singles in the ninth inning to send the Washington Nationals past the Diamondbacks 5-1 at Arizona. Diamondbacks starter Brandon McCarthy was working on a one-hit shutout until Jayson Werth led off the seventh with a game-tying homer.

- Garrett Richards tossed five-hit ball over seven innings to help the Angels shutout Philadelphia 3-0. Richards struck out eight, walked none and improved to 4-0 with a 2.42 ERA.

- Struggling Mike Moustakas was hitting .147 this season before delivering a three-run double to lead Kansas City to a 3-2 win over Colorado. Jason Vargas took a shutout into the seventh inning and improved to 4-1.

- Matt Dominguez poked an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to complete Houston's comeback from a 4-0 deficit in a 5-4 triumph over Texas. George Springer tied it with a two-run homer in the seventh before the Astros win for the third time in four games.

- David Ortiz homered twice for the second straight game and Felix Doubrant (doo-BRAHNT') allowed one run while pitching into the seventh inning of Boston's 9-4 romp at Minnesota. Ortiz is 7-for-10 with four homers and six RBIs in the first two games of the series.

- David Murphy had a huge night in Cleveland's 15-4 laugher against Toronto, delivering five hits and five RBIs to help the Indians set season highs for runs and hits. Corey Kluber gave up two runs and four hits while striking out nine in seven innings, while the Indians collected 22 hits in winning for the sixth time in eight games.

Pittsburgh collected four straight hits while scoring three times in the ninth to beat the Brewers 4-1 in Milwaukee. Chris Stewart hit an RBI single to break a 1-1 deadlock before scoring on Starling Marte's two-run double.

Jeff Mathis slugged a three-run homer and Ed Lucas and Reed Johnson hit two-run blasts as Miami embarrassed the Dodgers 13-3 in Los Angeles. Starting pitcher Anthony DeSclafini had two RBIs and limited the Dodgers to two runs and seven hits while fanning seven in six innings.

San Diego's game at Cincinnati was postponed by rain, as was the Chicago Cubs' game at St. Louis.

HOUSTON (AP) — The Texas Rangers have put left-handers Matt Harrison and Martin (mahr-TEEN') Perez on the disabled list with injuries that could require surgery.

General manager Jon Daniels says Harrison was diagnosed with significant nerve irritation in his vertebrae. Harrison made only two starts last season before undergoing two operations on a herniated disk in his lower back.

Perez has a partial tear of his ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow, which could force him to undergo Tommy John surgery.

NEW YORK (AP) — Mets pitcher Dillon Gee has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained back muscle, which makes Jacob deGrom (deh-GRAHM') the starter for the series finale against the Yankees tonight.

Gee has been the Mets' most consistent and durable starter for about a calendar year and is 3-1 with a 2.73 ERA in eight starts this season.

DeGrom is 4-0 with a 2.58 ERA in seven starts for Triple-A Las Vegas.
