Plans for the 2017 Wyoming High School Football season are mostly in place.

The Wyoming High School Activities Association assembled the schedules for all 4A teams, and put together the conference schedules for all other classes.

Non-conference games were left up to the individual schools.

This opens the possibility of either scheduling a team from another class, scheduling a JV team from a higher class, scheduling an out-of-state opponent, or taking a week off.

With the addition of Thunder Basin High School, the 'Bolts join 4A, while Evanston is bumped down to 3A.

Buffalo was originally supposed to drop to 2A, but opted up and wanted to stay in 3A.

This means 3A and 2A will each have 13 teams (6 in the east and 7 in the west), which makes for some interesting scheduling issues.

Big Horn drops to 1A, meaning there are 13 teams in that class as well.

6-Man is unchanged, but Lingle-Ft. Laramie will be playoff eligible.

Riverside will not.

Exact dates and start times of games are to be announced.

4A:

The Natrona-Sheridan championship rematch will take place in week 2, or around September 8th at Sheridan.

Natrona plays Campbell County (home) and Sheridan (away) in back to back weeks.

Rock Springs starts at Sheridan and later plays Campbell County and Thunder Basin back-to-back at home.

The Tigers will travel to both Casper teams.

Unlike in previous years, Cheyenne South's games vs. Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central have been pushed back to later in the schedule. Central is the last game.

In the past few years, the scheduled was worked between the Casper teams, where one is home and the other is away each week.

That's not the case in 2017.

There are 2 weeks where both the Trojans and Mustangs are home, and 2 other weeks where they are both away.

Since we don't have a page created yet for Thunder Basin, their schedule is as follows:

Cheyenne Central (home), Cheyenne South (home), at Cheyenne East, Sheridan (home), at Campbell County, Natrona (home), at Rock Springs, Kelly Walsh (home), at Laramie
